You may be thinking about throwing that package of activated charcoal away that you purchased awhile back and don't even remember why, but once you learn about all the fun uses for it, you may just want to keep it around. Here are three ways to put your activated charcoal to good use:

Use it as Makeup

You can use activated charcoal to create your own smoky makeup to replace the commercial brands in your collection that have toxic ingredients listed on the label. Simply open an activated charcoal capsule and pour a little on a cotton ball. Then rub the charcoal on your eyelids as eyeshadow. You can also mix activated charcoal with coconut oil and a couple of other ingredients to make your own mascara. Try mixing a little charcoal with loose blush powder to darken it up for evening wear, or mixing some with your liquid eyeliner to give it a more dramatic look.

Paint with It

Why not use activated charcoal to create custom paint colors for your art projects? The fine granules of charcoal that are in your capsules should combine easily with white, gray, yellow, orange, and even blue paints to create colors that aren't already in your collection. You can use the mixed paint on canvas, clothing, poster board, and almost any other type of material you enjoy painting on. Add just a small pinch of the activated charcoal to your paint color of choice at a time. Thoroughly mix the paint and then test it on a piece of paper before adding more charcoal to ensure that you don't overdo it. A little bit goes a long way!

Make Some Potpourri Sachets

Conveniently, activated charcoal can be used to eliminate odors throughout your home – the problem is that it isn't very attractive when left in bowls on tables. By making homemade potpourri sachets, you can keep your home smelling great in style. For each sachet you want to make, pour a capsule of activated charcoal into a small drawstring mesh pouch and then add a handful of dried lavender, rose hips, cinnamon sticks, basil, and other ingredients of choice. Close and tie the drawstring of each sachet and then hang them around your house. Check the sachets for potency once a month or so and replace the contents with fresh ingredients when necessary to keep things smelling fresh year-round.

These are just a few of the fun and effective ways to use up those activated charcoal capsules you've been storing. You're sure to come up with your own special uses as time goes on! Go to website for more information.
